Dr Intan Juliana Abd Hamid

Dr Intan Juliana Abd Hamid started Paediatric Immunology service at Advanced Medical and Dental Institute of Universiti Sains Malaysia. Her current research focused on exploring the diagnosis and disease mechanism of primary immunodeficiency diseases in Malaysia.

She further her study in UK, and had obtained a PhD in Immunobiology from Newcastle University, UK in 2017. Her PhD research focused on the long term outcome of Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID) patients after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in Newcastle, UK. She also had completed a year of International Clinical Fellowship in Paediatric Host Defence Unit, Newcastle upon Tyne NHS Foundation Trust, UK; where she had an exposure on the management and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for patients with primary immunodeficiency diseases. She’s back home in Malaysia in September 2017 and has started Paediatric Immunology service in Institut Perubatan & Pergigian Termaju, USM. Her current research focused on exploring the diagnosis and disease mechanism of primary immunodeficiency diseases in Malaysia. One of her long term dream is the availability of a hematopoietic stem cell transplantation unit in AMDI, USM which serves for PID patients in Malaysia.

Dr Zarina Thasneem Zainudeen

She is a Pensyarah Universiti DS51 in Institut Perubatan & Pergigian Termaju, Universiti Sains Malaysia. She graduated from Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia in Biomedical Science and pursued her study in Immunology at University of Oxford, UK.

Her previous research focused on the effects of monoclonal antibodies in Myasthenia Gravis. She also had working experience as a lab assistant in the diagnostic lab assisting in cell- based assays (CBA) for Neuromyelitis Optica (NMO). She’s back home in Malaysia and joined the Primary Immunodeficiency Diseases (PID) research group in Institut Perubatan & Pergigian Termaju, USM in 2019. Her current research focused on exploring the diagnosis and disease mechanism of PID in Malaysia. One of her long term dream is to provide diagnostic assays and to study the disease mechanism that help in early detection of PIDs in Malaysia.

Dr Ilie Fadzilah Hashim

Dr Ilie Fadzilah Hashim is a university lecturer in Institut Perubatan & Pergigian Termaju, Universiti Sains Malaysia since 2018.

She obtained her BSc. in Chemistry (Hons.) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, continued her MSc. in medical research in Universiti Sains Malaysia. She completed her Ph.D. in medicine from the University of Cambridge. She is part of Primary Immunodeficiency Diseases Group focusing on genetic and protein that causing the immune system to be impaired.

Dr Ernest Mangantig

Dr Ernest Mangantig is a lecturer in Advanced Medical and Dental Institute, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), and currently the course coordinator for TRX500 Research Methodology in Medicine and Health.

She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from USM in 2009. After finding her passion for research, she pursued a Master’s degree in Medical Statistics at the same university and graduated in 2012. She obtained her PhD degree in 2017 from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom where she learned about the application of statistical genetics in genetic epidemiology studies. She has a wide interest in the application of statistical methods in medical and health science research such as survival analysis, prognostic modelling of diseases, meta-analysis, and questionnaire development and validation. Her current research project includes epidemiology and quality of life studies in thalassemia and primary immunodeficiency diseases (PID).

Dr Nur Arzuar Abdul Rahim

Dr Nur Arzuar Abdul Rahim graduated with Doctor of Medicine (M.D) from Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2005 and obtained his Master of Medical (Pediatric) in 2014. He specializes in the field of Pediatrics with a special interest in pediatric allergy and immunology, and breast feeding issues especially on initiative of breast milk sharing among Muslim mothers for sick babies.

He started his academic career in Advance Medical and Dentistry Institute (AMDI), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in 2014 and has also served as Head of Regenerative Medicine Cluster from 2016 till now. He remains active in research projects and published papers. He involved with community engagement project as reviewer for instrument development for Holistic Inclusive Education Program (HIEP) from 2015 to 2016 and Pediatric Palliative Care from 2012 to 2015.
