The Advanced Medical and Dental Institute (AMDI), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) today launched the Primary Immunodeficiency Disease (PID) Treatment and Diagnostic Service, making IPPT the first institution in the country to have a complete PID group consisting of pediatric immunologists and scientist research specialist, as well as being a reference for the disease in the northern region including Kelantan and Terengganu.
The symbolic launch was officiated by the Deputy Chief Minister of 1 Penang, YB Dato ‘Ir. Haji Ahmad Zakiyuddin Abd Rahman at the Seberang Perai Utara 2019 World Children’s Day Carnival Program which IPPT hosted. According to the Director of IPPT, Professor Dr. Syed Azhar Syed Sulaiman, “IPPT took steps to create this service to help those in need, and treatment as early as possible can save lives if diagnosed with PID,” he said.
