First Successful Bone Marrow Transplantation For Chronic Granulomatous Disease As A Result Of Early Diagnosis In IPPT

A baby boy with chronic granulomatous disease (CGD) had successfully undergo a bone marrow transplantation at the Paediatric Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Hospital Tunku Azizah in Kuala Lumpur.

He was referred to the Paediatric Immunologist of AMDI, Dr. Intan Juliana Abd Hamid when he was still in utero at 32 weeks of gestation. The early diagnosis of the disease and prompt investigation procedures performed were being the key element to the success of the allogenic stem cell transplantation.
